How to become a marriage celebrant
- You must complete the mandatory unit of competency (CHCMCEL401A --- Plan, Conduct and
Review a
Marriage Ceremony).
- You have to apply to the attorney general's office and meet
their
criteria which includes: Fit and proper person test, active
involvement in the community and references. For more information, view
the Attorney
General's
website.
- Your selection is subject to the attorney general's capping
process that limits the total number of celebrants in each state. Note
that this capping process will be remove in the next couple of years.
Training Australia Unlimited offers the mandatory unit of
competency
as an online training course.
